Cool sh*t you can do in Instagram #1—Tilt-shift effect

I’ll bet professional photographers everywhere turned over in their darkrooms when Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger were let out of their cages and Instagram hit the scene.

But the photography landscape has changed, my friends. There will always be work for photographers who know their Shiz—for those who can turn out the perfect photo just by twiddling a couple of knobs (no pun intended) on their camera. It’s something I certainly aspire to, to be a shit-hot shutterbug, to shoot on manual mode all the time, to capture a moment or a scene and not feel compelled to Photomatix or Photoshop the bejeezus out of it.

But there are days when I can’t be arsed, when the effects I can get in Instagram are enough. For bloggers, or those who just want to capture beautiful (and spontaneous) moments, it can be a wonderful little app (not sponsored) to create photos worthy of using on the web.

Today’s “Cool Sh*t you can do in Instagram” tutorial is the Tilt-shift effect—making your photos into miniatures. Click the icon below to take you to the tutorial.

Come back and link up any photos you’ve made into Tilt-Shift on Instagram!
