Melbourne Mum

I am a Melbourne girl at heart, but…

South Australia is my second home. It’s an under-rated travel destination for Australians and international travellers alike, but it has everything.

It has the beach. Vineyards.

It has rural stretches of nothingness. Quaint hamlets a stones throw from the city but far enough away that you feel like you’re knee-deep in Bavaria.

It has city living and all the complexities that come with that.

When we visit Adelaide, we spend most of our time at the beach. Grange beach, Glenelg Beach (at the end of the tram), Brighton Beach, Port Noarlunga. Even in the middle of summer when Adelaide is at her busiest, you can still find a stretch of sand for yourself.

The sunsets are amazing. South Australian wineries house some of the top labels in the country (I have a serious soft spot for the Fox Creek Vixen Sparkling Shiraz). Wineries encased within the most picturesque of rolling hills—McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, the Barossa. Sometimes the harshness of summer sunburns the vines edges, an earthy reminder of the country it comes from.

I will always be a Melbourne girl at heart, but South Australia does have a little piece of my soul.
