GIVEAWAY: Dazzle the District with PlayhouseSquare

As the majority of my time is spent in the suburbs, I’m always excited when I have a chance to venture downtown. As a part of my day job, I find myself in the upper stories of the Hanna Building regularly. On a recent visit in early April, I snapped this photo of Star Plaza over looking the Theater District.

If you haven’t been in the area recently, you’ll notice some very big additions to the neighborhood. There’s the large signage that has been added over Euclid Avenue and East 14th Street, creating a welcoming entrance in any direction as you head toward the lights along one of Cleveland’s main thoroughfares.

Then you’ll notice that new feature in the bottom right corner of the photo. As you may have heard already, PlayhouseSquare is building the world’s largest outdoor chandelier – the GE Chandelier. This will include dramatic lights, video signage, elegant gateways and a “retro” sign inspired by PlayhouseSquare’s 1920s-era roots. So with something so special going in, why not throw a community event to celebrate all that?

On this Friday, May 2nd, the Dazzle the District celebration will be a one-time-only spectacle that will change the face of downtown. The evening’s festivities include a special lighting ceremony, a performance by Hot Chelle Rae and plenty of surprises. Should be a perfect way to kickoff a weekend!
