meet the teeniest new addition to our little family!

this sweet little kitten is jax <3
hector's dad is an exterminator who was doing some work on a church when he found this fluffy little baby on the roof. she was without a mama, so he brought her home to hector's house to feed and take care of her. a few days later he found the rest of the litter on the roof as well, but still no mother. hector's dad brought them home too. for a couple of days we played with the babies, fed them milk with little syringes, and watched in amazement as these tiny creatures, who couldn't possibly have opened their eyes more than a week earlier, cared for each other.
unfortunately, hector's family couldn't keep all five of the kittens, and we had already grown to love jax and she seemed to love us, so they took the other four babies to a shelter. the rest of the litter has since been adopted, obviously, how could anyone resist tiny little faces that look anything like jax's?! hopefully they are now in loving homes with caring families who love them just as much as we love our new little baby.
jax is definitely one of our new favorite forms of entertainment around the house. we recently showed her her reflection and watched as she tried to figure out where in the world this other kitten was hiding. she pawed at the mirror, jumped behind it to see where the other cat was, backed up ever so slowly and then whipped her head around to see if it was behind her, and ducked down so it couldn't see her and then popped up like lightening, shocked to see the kitten still staring back at her! seriously, way better than tv. she also manages to fall in her food and water bowl every time she eats and drinks. to give her credit, it's not that hard to do seeing as she is smaller than any of the bowls we can find to put her food in. still, my favorite right now is the way she lies on her back and uses all four paws to hold my finger while simultaneously gnawing on it with her teeny tiny baby teeth. or maybe the way she stretched all the way up on her tippy toes to reach the top of hector's little 7 inch trash can and suddenly, with a tiny "meow!", we watched as jax fell backward. with the trash can on top of her. still holding on. because she refuses to let go of anything :) she's just the sweetest. hector can't wait for her to be a bad ass teenage cat. i wish she could stay this little forever but she's already gotten so much bigger!
how cute is she?!
