I woke up early put my favorite pink blazer on and started my day off with the Avent 30th Birthday Party! Since this wasn’t an official party the bus came to pick us up. I was happy to finally arrive because it was 11:30am my time and I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet!
I have been a fan of Avent with both kids as I have used their bottles, bottle brushes, pacifiers and more over the past 5 years with both boys. They had so many great products including a brand new beast pump built for the comfort of mom! There were also a lot of sweets… Which felt weird at breakfast, then again it was lunchtime on the east coast so it kinda worked
Afterwards I returned to the convention center, registered for the conference and was on my way to meet Lysol! I had a really great conversation with Kate Awsumb (of the CDC) about the importance of keeping our kids protected from germs (more info on that coming up!).
After that I dabbled in some of the sessions but nothing worth writing about. It was finally lunch time and I had the opportunity to go to a great lunch with US Cellular. It was a super fancy lunch too with prime rib, eggplant parm and some kind of pasta Alfredo that I would hurt somebody for right now. While I was stuffing my face we actually got some good tips for equipping children with cell phones.
After that I was going to take a break, really I was. Then the expo stated calling so I went in to take a ton of pictures have fun.
Shortly after I went to hang out with the awesome folks at Magisto which a really cool video making app that strings short video together and makes it all pretty. Check out my cupcake, it’s not perfect but it’s fun! (I was quite out of place not using my trusty decorating bag to decorate my cupcakes but I made it happen anyway with the back of my fork!) Can you see the B.A.M?
After that Kim and I met up for some authentic Mexican food. We ended up at a place called Mezcal and I’m so happy we did! The food was phenomenal! They gave us three types of mole, and even made fresh guacamole for us at the table! The waiter was awesome and I enjoyed every bite.
Right after, there was a small get together of the brown bloggers in one of the hotel. It was completely informal and I am so happy I heard about it from another blogger I had just met! We chatted for a bit, huge bloggers and small, all united in this blogging game. It was just beautiful. We exchanged ideas and issues. We laughed. We cried. It was really one of the most special moments of the conference. I’ve always said that my most favorite part about blogging is the connection and this meeting proved it.
We ended our night at the multi culti party but didn’t stay too long because technically it was way past my bedtime and I had to run in the morning!
Stay tuned for part two that includes the lengths I will go to get close to Kerry Washington, Why I got completely emotional, and the party to end all parties!!
