You Can’t Get Anymore Random Than This

It’s been so long since I have done an Old School Blogging post! I know I am uber late with this topic but I still wanted to do it!!

5 Random Things about ME

1) I don’t know how to swim. Despite the fact that I spent all of my youth summers in Jamaica with my grandpa, aunties and uncles…I don’t know how to swim! I can float and flip with the best of them but no legit swimming here. My mom did her part–she enrolled me in swimming classes when I was young–I was terrified! At first it was all good, I was learning techniques and etc, then while sitting on the edge of the pool somehow I slipped into the deep side. Water was all in my nose and everything! The instructor saw what happened and he came and brought me to the surface. Let’s just say I was so traumatized that I never went back. I remember screaming hysterically (which was very normal back then) “I DROWNED!!” which I didn’t obviously but it was enough to make me stop taking lessons immediately!

2) My mom helps with my sons homework: Since my son got accepted into the school of our choice, the work has been insanely heavy and crazy! Since my mom picks up my son at the bus stop daily while I am at work, she starts (and often completes) his homework assignments. There is truth to the saying that it takes a village to raise a child! I am so happy that she helps him, because she doesn’t have to! It just gives me one less stress that I don’t have to deal with in the evening and I am SO grateful for that. I also want to point out that I am not superwoman–I just have an amazing support system!

3) I have come to a happy place with my body: For a long time I was obsessed with being a certain size. I mean this blog started off as a weight loss blog! I was deeply unhappy with my appearance and I wanted to do everything to change it. Now my focus is healthy which honestly should have been that from the beginning! I am obviously in love with all things fitness and want to spread the love to everyone–but now I realized that I have matured in my journey. I am going to keep running, shaking it in Zumba, spinning away, and maybe even getting my OM on in Yoga–but all of it with no pressure. I think the pressure is what makes it not fun anymore. I am all about keeping the body moving as much as possible. Would I LOVE to drop 20 pounds? sure! Do I know it may not be in my gene pool to do so? YES. However, I can always push to be my best self through my love of fitness!

4) Law School: I still have dreams of attending law school one day. Hey, If Barack can do it in his 30s so can I! Since I already have my masters degree in Public Administration, this would be the next logical step. Watching How To Get Away With Murder has not helped either, it just makes me secretly want it a bit more. I wouldn’t want to be a courtroom lawyer per se, but I would really love to get into politics as a congresswoman. I know how much time it would take and it would likely require me to go full time while working fulltime, but even with all of that–its still so appealing to me! I think congresswoman Schnelle Acevedo has a nice ring to it! You would vote for me…right?

5) 2048: So I am kind of obsessed with this game on my phone. This is very unlike me because I have never been a girl to play games on her phone. Even when Candy crush was all the rage (is it still all the rage?) I have never played it once because I don’t even want to be tempted to fall into that kind of addictive clutch. I am also might have said that Candy Crush was a deliberate trap set bythe government to keep us distracted from what is happening in the world. 2048 is quite different however, its a numbers game where you slide around and match multiples until you get the ever elusive “2048″. It is a lot more complicated than that but I have quite the attachment to this game! It makes you THINK and even though I was never good at math something about this game has got me hooked.

Do you ever think about going back to school? Do you play 2048?
