Good versus evil just got complicated. Sixteen-year-old Lucy Walker just wants a normal life, until she learns she is half-witch, half-demon. Now she's got other problems, like keeping her demon dad from killing her boyfriend, keeping the witches in her life from killing her demon dad, and keeping her non-supernatural friends safe from both sides. All the while she's desperately searching for the family raven that carries her magical legacy. She's walking a tightrope between good and evil, drawn to both, uncertain which she will ultimately choose. Fans of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga, Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver series, and Meg Cabot's Abandon series will love The Girl and The Raven! - Goodreads

The Girl and The Raven is honestly a book I have been putting off for sometime...
WHY?!?!?!?!?! why did I put this lovely book off for so long? Maybe it had to do with the cover (I'm not a fan). Maybe the fact I've NEVER been interested in demon books (A topic that never interested me before). Whatever it is I want to kick myself in the butt for waiting so long! Such a good good book. I thought ok, maybe I'll like this book. I just didn't know I was going to come out LOVING this book. That came from left field.
Lucy is 16 years old and has just lost her mom. Her uncles (Sheldon and Bernard) get guardianship of her and she comes to live in her Grandma's house (who is also deceased). The one night things unfold for Lucy. Persephone tells her she is a witch and from there on poor Lucy her whole life changes. Then on top of everything her totally hot crush who is also a supernatural creature, lets her know this crazy Demon guy is her father. So now on top of her Moms death, her grandma's death, and learning she is a witch, she finds out she is also part Demon :/ So now Lucy has to wonder is she as evil as her father? Or is she Good like her grandma and how thin is the line between good and evil?
Really awesome premise. I have to say this is my first witch book. I really enjoy it and can't wait to dive into some more. I really enjoy Lucy. For being a 16 year old with all this sprung on her and keeping her normal life and supernatural life from meeting, she is really mature. I feel at times she makes naive decisions, but she is new to this that is to be expected. I REALLY love the ending. There is this AWESOME action seen that totally had me on my toes. I don't know if this is a series, but honestly I hope not. There are a few things left unanswered, but I'm scared that if the author does go on, I may have to deal with a little but of a love triangle. I totally expected in this book and I am SO glad that was not the case. But the ending kind of had me thinking if the book does go on she may bring that aspect in and it would ruin this book for me if she were to make Lucy choose between Marcus and Dylan.
Character Development is great. I think the author did a wonderful job. I like that I could actually visualize these characters and the emotions they must be going through. Pauline has a beautiful writing style that just flowed together so nicely. I will be sure to check out more of her work!
Bottom Line: This book is packed with emotions from beginning to end. If you need something that will both make you laugh and cry This is a good number. Oh and Marcus is Hot!
Favorite Quote: "If your trying to scare me off, you're going to have to do better than that. I face down demons, remember?
