One look at Brawn, and Becca is wondering how he’d look without his clothes. He’s also instantly attracted to her, but has sworn never to touch a human female. They just aren’t sturdy enough for the type of rough sex Brawn enjoys most. When he learns he’ll be living under the same roof with Becca, Brawn simply sees it as a chance to broaden his knowledge of humans. Hopefully he can do so while keeping his hands off her…
His good intentions go astray when they’re both kidnapped and locked together in a cage. Brawn finds himself reliving a nightmare when he’s once again subjected to breeding experiments at the hands of New Species’ enemies—who will use Becca to get what they want. Brawn and Becca will have to depend on each other if they hope to survive.

In Book #4 Justice we met Jessie who was part of the Human Task Force. Jessie works with the NSO. She was assigned to help the New Species females they call "Gifts". Once the Task Force goes to recover the Gift Female, Jessie is there to comfort and protect them. You find out in book #4 that Jessie will be replaced on the team with a New Species Male. They elect BRAWN.

Tim Oberto is in charge of the human task force and his house shares land with his daughters guesthouse. Meet Becca a widow and Tim’s daughter. Brawn is informed that he will be living in the guesthouse on Tim’s property. Brawn being assigned to the house will keep him away from the street noise and safe. Unfortunately, no one informed Becca of this, you know the woman who actually owns and lives in the house. Tim tells her last minute to pack her things because Brawn will be there within the hour and she will be living in the main house with him (just like her teen years again). Becca loves her father but no way is she living with him ever again, he is overbearing and overprotective and she will never be able to do anything.

Becca puts her foot down and informs her father that she will be staying in her own home after Tim tells her that she is FORBIDDEN to talk to or even look at Brawn when he arrives. **Side note for all the men out there, never FORBID a woman to do anything it will backfire**. Brawn arrives and is surprised that they will be sharing the 3 bedroom home but seems to take the news well. The instant that Becca meets Brawn she is wondering how he looks without clothes and knows that she is super attracted to him. Brawn keeps it to himself but is shocked to find himself attracted to Becca. He is one of the guys that never wanted to touch a human female and does not see himself ever being with a human woman. Brawn is excited because he will be able to learn more about humans while living with Becca, hopefully they can keep everything platonic.

On the very 1st night there is already a problem and they are kidnapped and locked in a cage together. The kidnappers keep Becca alive because they think that Brawn is her mate. They want Becca to help them with their breeding experiment and Brawn is once again a subject to horrific captures. Brawn and Becca have to keep a level head and work together to survive and ultimately escape if possible.

Brawn and Becca become very close while sharing a small cage with a cot. Brawn is expecting the NSO to come because of a tracker they gave him in case of emergency, but Brawn is worried that the tracker has stopped working because of the building that they are being held in. Once they are able to be free of the kidnappers Becca and Brawn go their separate ways do to Tim’s lies. Tim wants to keep them apart and tells each that they don’t want to talk to one another. Brawn is crushed and wants to make sure Becca is ok but understands the nightmares that come along with the trauma of being a lab rat and held prisoner. He respects that Becca will call him when she is ready. Becca is pained and saddened that Brawn has not attempted to even check on her since the incident and feels hurt and rejected. Becca thinks of a plan and flees Tim’s overbearing presents with a FAKE TRIP to Europe. Becca is in serious trouble and she feels as though she is all alone. No one can discover Becca's secret, not the NSO, not Brawn, especially not her father. Becca needs to disappear for good and keep her secret safe.

Once the trouble become clear to Trisha and the New Species who have received some weird and frantic phone calls, Becca is taken to Reservation to be protected. Brawn lives at Reservation and insists on seeing Becca. Becca is very hurt by Brawn’s actions or lack thereof in not wanting to be with her and rejects him about 10 different ways. Brawn will not be rejected, he wants to protect Becca and is extremely happy to see her. They figure out the misunderstanding and the communication problem and try to work things out. Tim’s going to be pissed that his daughter and Brawn have figured out his deception and are now trying become closer. Justice has to tread lightly on informing the Task Leader that his only daughter is in love with a New Species male and will be living with them now. Becca is now under the NSO protection even from him.

How will that conversation go? And what was Becca’s secret and the reason she had to hide from her father and the NSO? Hopefully Tim will be able to understand and be happy for Becca and Brawn.

Onto Wrath and Book #6. I'm in love with each and every one of these thus far and I keep adding characters to my love list. :-)
