Riley Tanner has a best friend, the best friend a girl could ask for. He’s supportive, loyal, honest, trustworthy, kind, and thoughtful. He’s also the biggest player in school.
Their relationship has always been easy and affectionate, but after Riley’s month long vacation, things become a little strange. She starts to look at him in ways that go way beyond the ‘friend zone’. Add in her best friend’s rival, and things become a whole lot more complicated.

Clay has been in love with his best friend Riley forever. But Clay knows that Riley looks to him as a friend and nothing more. Clay has be just the friend to keep Riley in his life. Clay tells Riley all the time that he loves her, that she is the only girl for him, and he does amazing sweet things for her all the time.

Riley on the other hand is clueless to Clays love for her. Riley knows that Clay “loves” her but is unaware that he really is in love with her and thinks that he does all these things for her because they have been best friends since she was born practically. Riley sees Clay as her best friend and nothing will take that away from her. At least she DID see him that way until a month long trip to England had her longing for her best friend and snuggle partner. Hardly connected to WIFI or the internet and the cell not working properly leaves Riley stranded and missing her best friend terribly.

When Riley arrives back home she starts to see Clay in a different light. Riley knew that Clay was hot, beautiful, and downright sexy but she KNEW that now all of a sudden Riley is SEEING with her own eyes. Riley is unsure what to do with these new thoughts and feelings she is having for her best friend. If she tells him she is wishing for him to touch her more and maybe even kiss her it will ruin their friendship and she could not live without his friendship.

Clay sees Riley checking out his body more and acting a little odd but he is not sure what is going on with her. Clay decides to see if he can get her to feel what he feels between them now. After a bet goes wrong for Riley but right for Clay, Clay collects his winning with a kiss from Riley. The kiss gets extremely heated and Riley is very aware that Clay and her should do that again. But now she is still unsure of Clays feelings for her.

After a rocky start to a more romantic involvement Clay agrees with Riley to leave the friendship unaltered because neither of them can admit they have more feelings for the other just in case it ruins the friendship.

Riley gets flirted with by Blake. Blake is 21 and especially hot. Blake is always someone that Clay dislikes greatly. Clay warns Riley but Riley is trying to get over the feelings she has for Clay so she dismisses them. On the second date with Blake, Riley decides she does not like Blake the same way and sees an ugly side of him.

FINALLY – Riley and Clay discuss their FRIENDSHIP and figure it out. They are about to embark on their first date but Blake shows up and Riley tells him that she will not go out with him again and that he needs to leave. Blake is goes crazy and breaks Riley’s arm in rage. Clay wants to rip Blake apart for hurting Riley.

They file a claim with the police (which are completely a waste of time) who do absolutely nothing about Blake. Blake proceeds to text, call, and stalk Riley. Making threats, telling her that she’s his girlfriend, asking when they are going out next. Blake is completely INSANE.

This goes on for quite some time. At the end of the book an altercation happens between Blake and Clay. Clay is seriously injured and this adds problems into Riley and Clays relationship. Riley makes Clay see her love for him is unwavering and they work through the problems as best they can. The book will also advance you 7 years into the future. And this will also lead you to another book “Free Falling”. I originally read this book because I was a little tired of the series and wanted a break but I did buy the companion “Free Falling”.

This is a really good book for a YA reader who does not want a lot of the sexual parts but more of the sweet and caring parts. The relationship between Clay and Riley whether friends or more was super sweet. They care for one another deeply and choose each other over all else even as just friends. We all long for a friendship like that and it moves perfectly into a romantic relationship for them both. I feel that this author is very good with writing so that the reader feels the emotions she is trying to convey at the time. This is also my first book by Kirsty Moseley but I will seek out more.

This book had funny and humorous, sweet and romantic, cute and corny, suspense and struggle, sadness and drama……
