I honestly Don't know how to rate this book. I went into this book with some expectations, and I was highly and when I say Highly I mean HIGHLY disappointed in what I read.
I figured this would be quirky, fun, quick read. But what I got was a very frustrating read. There were times I had no idea what was going on.
Characters, I didn't like any of them. Not a single one. Well maybe Monty. I was pretty fond of the grandfather and I enjoyed any scene with him in it. But the main character was annoying, overly sarcastic, and confusing. I never understood if what was happening to her was actually happening or part of her screen writing. This book reminds me A LOT of Just Like The Movies. Another one I wasn't too fond of.
This book follows Charlie a 17 year old who is gun ho on loosing her V-plates. She has a friend Roach who is a bible thumping Christian (her words not mine), and a mom who has an addiction to Valium. Her moms addiction is what leads to Charlie having to move in with her grandfather, a guy she barely knows. Like I stated I really liked her grandpa and I enjoyed watching their relationship bloom. It was super sweet in a very twisted humor sort of way!
I'm not fond of books that deal with the main female character desperately trying to lose her Virginity. I have no respect for a female character who will lower her standards to lose her virginity. Its degrading and disrespectful. Especially when you do it because its the "cool" thing to do.
I honestly don't have much else to say about this. I did rate it 3 stars, only because I liked the idea of the book, the execution just wasn't to my liking.
