It's amazing the peace that settles into my heart when I walk onto my church's campus. I'm sitting out on our patio area where I can hear our fountain/baptistery water spatting out and splattering the still water, where the cross under which Kevin and I took wedding photos is just beginning to glow with light and where the sun sets just beyond this random, Oklahoma, red, dirt hill.
Sometimes I'm shocked to find myself here in this state. People ask me where I'm from, and my mouth utters, Oklahoma. Almost always shortly followed by, I went to the University of Oklahoma, met a boy, got married and stayed. And that's crazy! I've always been a hopeless romantic but to fall in love in college and get married 3 weeks past our graduation ceremonies? That wasn't in my plans by any means. But then again, coming to Oklahoma wasn't in my plans either.
This is where the Lord has brought me. In the moments when I really listened to Him, He guided me here. Here, in this relatively small town, most recently put into perspective with my trip home to Houston, in Oklahoma to possibly live out the rest of my days here with an incredibly handsome, and spectacular man that I have the privilege to call my husband. Mine.
Tears start to glisten in my eyes as I type this. I wasn't a cryer until I got married.
To my sweet Husband, you've made me an emotional person out of me. You've opened my heart after it had been hurt and closed for so many reasons. You've loved me more than I could have ever imagined. Every day I fall more in love with you. You are more than my husband. You are my best friend. You are my helper. You are my rock. You are my encourager, You are my cheerleader. You are my partner. I swear you are constantly outdoing me in love. Every day I'm just trying to get closer to your level. Your love is stronger than I realize daily and I'm beyond a shadow of doubt the luckiest girl.
I love the excitement in your eyes when you get an idea you know you're going to have to encourage me into. I love the freedom in your dance in the car rides and the way you belt out pop songs like a teenage girl. I love your desire to go on adventures. I love the simple ways you bring adventure to our every day. I love the way you quietly read the Word of the Lord every morning on our round wooden table that we re-finished together. I love your interaction with Paisley, it melts my heart and I can't help but imagine you as a father to our unborn children. You are going to be such an incredible father, I love your interest in technology because only you know how desperately I need you to be for the sake of both of us. I love your desire to constantly improve. I love the way you read books to better your ability to lead because that is how the Lord has called each of us. I love the way you pray for us before our bodies drift into a night of sleep. I love the way you whisper good morning beautiful every morning no matter what I really look like. I love the softness in your voice. I love your sweet kisses every day no matter what happens. I love the way your long arms wrap around me and quiet the frustrations of my day. I love the way we share things together. I love how you lead in our finances. We do it together but it's your leadership here that has enabled us to pay off as much debt as we have. You are incredible. I love your willingness to serve me, others, and our small group. I love the way you lead in our small group. Watching you grow in that role has blown me away. I know you'll go on to lead in ministry. I love your heart for the Lord. I love the memory of your tears in the middle of that one Sunday service. I love the tears you shed when your feelings are so raw. I love the way you never let a day go by without telling me you love me. I love how deeply you love.
Wherever the Lord leads, I know I'll be with you. I pray we daily learn to lean into our Savior's love and daily learn what it's like to love how He does. I pray He brings us into our dreams and we get to experience His amazing plans together side by side. I pray we seek Him with all we are, setting aside our selfish desires to fully chase after His call on our lives.
I love you today more than I ever could have imagines, guessed or requested in my wildest dreams (E3:20)! I'll love you from now and until forever and always.
