Saving Oily Skin.

I have a real issue with finding a good day moisturiser for my awkward skin; I have quite a dehydrated complexion at times, but it can also be quite oily and I’m prone to a shiny T-zone here and there. As a result, finding a good moisturiser is near on impossible!

I tend to find anything balancing results in my skin feeling tight and uncomfortable, yet anything that simply serves to hydrate feels very heavy and my makeup tends to slip off during the day. I have been using the Antipodes Rejoice Light Day Cream (£25.99), a lovely organic option that feels lovely to apply and sinks in quickly – the only issue is that it isn’t always completely nourishing. While it does keep an oily sheen at bay, I often get that all too familiar tight sensation after application (is there anything worse? Truly. It feels horrendous) – probably as my skin is a combination, rather than straight up oily.

To counteract this, I’ve taken to adding in a few drops of oil to get a good balance. I know some of you will be turning your nose up at the idea of using an oil on oily skin (snobs), but it really does help to regulate sebum and balance the skin in one. I swear by using facial oils, if you haven’t already noticed, with my current favourite being the Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant (£23.85) – I haven’t been using this long but my complexion is already looking and feeling miles better. It sinks in beautifully, leaves my face feeling super soft and really nourishes parched skin – win!
All I do is squeeze out a pea-sized amount of the Antipodes moisturiser and then add a couple of drops of the rosehip oil, before mixing together slightly and applying all over my face. Skin has a soft, dewy glow to it and my makeup applies beautifully – it’s a lovely way to keep skin looking fresh but not oily throughout the day, as the sebum is regulated and skin is hydrated. Divine!

I have solved the issue of a dehydrated complexion, while also infusing antioxidants and other all-natural ingredients in to my skin – I’m all about natural skincare now, dontchaknow. It’s a flawless way to achieve healthy skin and a better finish to makeup, and my skin stays shine-free through just about anything – even my afternoon (Netflix) marathons.
