Review // Toft DIY Knitting Kit

When Toft contacted me to ask if I would like to try one of their knitting kits I sprung at the chance. Now, thanks to them, my head is nice and warm and it has inspired me do make a similar one once I realised how fast it was to knit. Plus I get a bunch of compliments for this unusual beanie, and I’m very proud to say it’s made by Yours Truly!

Toft is an environmentally friendly luxury wool brand from Britain. All of their yarns and products are ecologically and ethically sound, meaning even the real fur pompom in the picture comes from animals who have died from natural causes. That makes me feel a whole lot better about wearing fur!

Making the hat is fairly easy, if you’re a complete beginner though, you may have to do a little research about kitting, purling and using circular needles, but once you pick up the movement it goes very quickly. It’s an easy starter project because it takes a lot less time than a scarf! I’ve been knitting myself one of those for a month now and honestly I’ve lost momentum!

In the kit you receive knitting needles (optional), enough wool for the project, any attached accessories and the pattern. There are lots of other kits on their website – from rugs (no word of a lie) to garments to toys I think that a very sweet gift to make for a baby shower! It goes without saying I’m a huge fan of the concept.

Have you ever tried knitting? Would you spend the time on making yourself a little accessory?
