Elapsed Time

It is time for my 3rd graders to begin working on one tricky concept…elapsed time! We have been reviewing time for about a week and a half. I know this may seem like a while, but I only see my 3rd graders four times a week for 30 minutes, so we don't have a ton of time to practice. To begin with, I reviewed time to the five minutes from 2nd grade. We made these awesome clocks from Thriving Third Graders. You can download it for free HERE.

After this we learned about time to the minute using these fabulous resources.

I am all about the hands-on and turning learning into a game so we played telling time red light green light. Here's how we played!

After this we dove into elapsed time. I modified red light, green light, I did a few explicit lessons with guided practice and then I put together this packet of Elapsed Time fun! We are going to be working through this packet for the next week or so.
