My Style: All That Glitters

Apparently I’ve built up a bit of a reputation for being a rom-com queen. Last week I went to see The Bodyguard Musical with Next and a group of my favourite bloggers, and no one could believe I’ve never seen the Whitney Houston movie. In fairness it’s probably the only iconic chick-flick I haven’t watched a gazillion times (or at all!), but I didn’t think my confession would be met with such surprise.

Obviously I knew the general premise of the plot – famous signer falls in love with her bodyguard – so when dressing for the occasion I amped up the diva-factor with Next’s sequin bomber jacket, Louboutin stilettos and clip-in hair extensions. The end result was perhaps more Khloe Kardashian than Whitney Houston, but fun all the same…

And now that I’ve seen The Bodyguard on stage I definitely plan to watch the 1992 movie over the summer. Alexandra Burke was great in the role (so it’s a shame the musical is closing at the end of August), but there’s only one Whitney Houston and I can’t wait to see the real deal!
