Festive Adventures: Food, Friends and Christmas Carolling

With Christmas now less than I week away, I’ve been kept busy over the last few days with festive fashion events. Here’s a quick look at what I’ve been up to…

The Apartment X Aubaine Christmas Dinner

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I spend a lot of time in Aubaine restaurants. I even designed a London Fashion Week-inspired cake for them last year! This month they’re celebrating their 10th anniversary, so joined forces with The Apartment to host an intimate birthday/Christmas dinner. It was a chance to catch up with many of my favourite fashion friends before the city gets deserted over Christmas, and conversation centred largely around Kim Kardashian cropping North West out of a selfie, Blake Lively’s maternity style and everyone’s goals for the New Year.

The food was delicious as always - Aubaine never disappoint. I opted for chicken paillard, served with pesto, sun-dried tomatoes and rocket; but the menu also included a fillet burger with truffle mayonnaise and sea bass on a bed or roasted artichoke puree. For dessert we tucked into a giant birthday cheesecake and a platter of Aubaine’s most popular pastries, then rolled home wishing we’d worn looser clothing. Why do I always forget skinny jeans are not appropriate festive attire?!

Christmas Carolling With Next

The next night I was out with the same crowd (plus a few extra faces) for the Maggie’s Christmas Carol Concert at St Paul’s Cathedral with Next. Although I was born and raised in London, I’m ashamed to admit this was my first time inside St Paul’s – and, naturally, I was blown away its size and spectacular beauty. Photography wasn’t allowed, but I tried to get a few sneaky shots before everyone was seated.

After the concert – which Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also attended – we hopped into a fleet of taxis and headed over to Duck & Waffle for a late-night festive feast. High up on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower we had a prime view of London and tucked into smoked mozzarella, roasted octopus, sea bass, tartiflette and the signature duck & waffle dish; followed by vanilla baked alaska and dark chocolate brownie sundaes.

Next also put together a treasure chest of gifts for each guest, which was so much fun to open. We then sat at the table in the furry hats, knitted mittens and statement necklaces that had been personally picked for us. I’m definitely going to remember this trick for the future – it’s a great way to display party favours!

Have you been having lots of festive fun this week too? What have you been up to? Leave a comment and let me know…

And a quick programming note before I sign off… this is my last week of blogging before Christmas. After The Weekend Reading List on Saturday there will be no new content going live until December 29th. You’ll still be able to find me on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, but I’m excited to take a little break from the internet and recharge my batteries.
