Kate Visits the 23rd Poplar Beaver Scouts – December 16, 2014

Today, Kate visited the newly formed 23rd Poplar Beaver Scout Colony in Bow, London, in support of The Scout Association’s “Better Prepared” campaign. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the value of the Scouting program and seek more volunteers to become leaders so thousands of children in the United Kingdom can join a scouting group that are currently on waitlists.

Since first announcing that the Duchess had become one of the growing members of flexible volunteers who, because of other commitments, help when they can rather than every session, the Scouts have seen record numbers of children interested in their programs. Kate’s visit today saw her working with children as they worked towards their Disability Awareness badge, including taking part in learning sign language, slicing foods blindfolded and eating chocolates with no fingers (with boxing gloves!)

After much excitement and erroneous information having been floating around (she was not wearing a Goat coat!), we finally got confirmation that we would see Kate in a much more casual ensemble. For today’s engagement, Kate paired a black UK Scouting hoodie with black skinny jeans, her Kiki McDonough “Grace” earrings and her Russell & Bromley Charge It boots. A perfect outfit to allow her to spend time enjoying her time with the children – which is exactly what she did!

The zip front hoodie Kate wore this evening is still available on the Scouts website.

Here’s another variation on the hoodie, without the zip:
