Wet n Wild Summer 2014 LE ColorIcon Bronzer/Blush Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild has released a small collection for Summer 2014; it includes three limited edition ColorIcon bronzer/blushes which I’ll be reviewing today plus six nail polishes. First, let’s take a look at the three limited edition bronzers compared to the three permanent bronzers.

The base colors of the limited edition bronzers look quite similar to the colors of the permanent ones in the pan. However, when swatched, the differences in texture and finish become apparent. The limited edition bronzers are mostly matte (Hold Me Close has some micro glitter) and are quite sheer; the swatches are layered. They’re dryish to touch. The permanent bronzers have a better texture and different finish – they’re very soft, very pigmented, and slightly shimmery.

Let’s look at the limited edition bronzer/blushes individually – with even more photos of the product in the pan, because adorable.

Hold Me Close has a pale yellow-beige bronzer (really more of a highlighter) with micro glitter and a matte pink-coral blush. Mixed, the pink is a bit lighter. Both shades were somewhat sheer and the blush was slightly patchy.

Dusk Til Dawn

Dusk Til Dawn has a matte reddish bronzer with decent pigmentation and a matte pink blush, which is quite sheer and difficult to pick up. Mixed, the bronzer predominates.

Everything Under the Sun

Everything Under the Sun has a matte bronzer with decent pigmentation and a very sheer pink blush. Again, the bronzer predominates when mixed due to the textures.

Overall, I’m not terribly impressed with these when swatched. However, when applied to the face with a brush, they work MUCH better – I don’t have any trouble getting the blushes to show up, and the texture looks good on the face. So, given the low price, the cuteness, and the fact that these work well in practice, I would tentatively recommend them; just don’t expect the same silky, pigmented textures you find in the permanent ColorIcon bronzers.
