12 Awesome Pairs of DIY Flip Flops
You may recall that we have one puppy in our house, who is now 8 months old. His name is Angus. He is a loving and generally calm dog who has two major issues. One is that he likes to run away and play “You Can’t Get Me!” The second, bigger problem is that he likes eating shoes. In fact, he’s eaten 5 pairs of shoes in our house (see photo in the title image below!) Three of which were flip flops, two of mine and one that belonged to the Little Monkey. Needless to say, I have been annoyed, and decided that I needed to acquire new flip flops. I realized that I might be able to make a few pairs inexpensively with my own craftiness, like I did last year, so I started looking for inspiration. I ended up finding so many wonderful creative ideas, and I’m still thinking about what I’d like to make myself. However, I thought I’d share with you some amazing pairs of DIY flip flops!
One simple but stylish way to revamp inexpensive flip flops is to simply use fabric, like Sassy Sanctuary did here.
Minted Strawberry made these Flip Flops look so classy and stylish with the macrame braiding and rhinestones.
While I’m not sure the Macrame and Rhinestones would be the Big One’s style, I think this pair of flip flops made with paracord would be right up his alley for Boys Scout Camp!
Instead of paracord, I could bring out my crochet hook (I’m a little rusty though), and using the pattern from Petals to Picot make these flip flops!
With all of the amazing duct tape choices available at craft stores, making these flip flops with a duct tape flower by Skip to My Lou could be very easy to do! I could even go with a pattern or print if I wanted!
I have a large button stash in my house, so I love this idea of using buttons. It gives a certain elegant feel, a lot like those fancy flip flops and sandals that use sequins and rhinestones.
In lieu of a lot of buttons, you can just use a single rhinestone or button and a nice piece of ribbon, which was the tutorial on the Mother Huddle.
Instead of buttons or ribbon, this classy DIY from Heart and Thrift uses wooden beads. It definitely creates a sophisticated and elegant sandal!
I really love the look of these embroidery floss wrapped sandals from A Well Traveled Woman. I bet they are comfortable!
I would have never thought to make flip flops with zippers, but here is another clever way to spice up an inexpensive pair of flip flops from the Experimental Home.
