Christmas Home Tour 2014

Welcome, friends, to our Christmas Home Tour! Please kick back, relax, and stay awhile as I share our home all dressed up for the holidays. And because this wonderful time of year is all about spreading the Christmas cheer, I have 27 other bloggers’ holiday homes to share with you as well! Just scroll all the way to the bottom of this post to find their links.

For those of you who come here often, you know I’ve been busy decking the halls for quite some time now, and I’ve been bursting at the seams to show you how everything turned out. For those of you who are new here, I just want to say, WELCOME!

Our home is always a work-in-progress, and even though I just decorated my living room this summer, I’m already coming up with ideas to change things around. I promised myself I would enjoy the holidays and all my beautiful Christmas decorations before tackling any major DIY projects in here, because you probably don’t want to look at a half-decorated Christmas tree in the middle of sawdust, lumber, and paint cans, right? I thought so.

My Christmas decorating style is a mix of creamy white neutrals, natural wood elements, a little bit of rustic charm, and a whole lot of metallic and glitter glam. It wouldn’t be Christmas without glitter all over your floors for weeks, right? I love keeping this neutral color scheme because it allows me to change things up year after year without having to completely scrap everything I have and start over. The look I was going for is warm, cozy, inviting, and the perfect space to curl up with a soft blanket, some hot cocoa, and your favorite Christmas movie. Let’s start the tour!

I love using big spools of ribbon as garland on the tree. There are a ton of different options you can use, but this burlap and lace I found just melts my heart.

Our short ceilings don’t allow for much of a tree topper, so I pair a small gold star with a big burlap bow to draw the eye upward.

This little area by the (faux) fireplace might be my favorite spot in the house. A cozy rug, a mini tree, our burlap stockings, and plenty of candlelight. The boys and I have cuddled up here to read Christmas stories quite a bit this season.

Antlers and jingle bells… one of my favorite combinations. I am a firm believer that adding a few jingle bells makes just about anything feel festive for the holidays!

When I want to add an instant coziness to the house, a couple soft blankets and throw pillows will always do the trick.

Here’s a few photos that I shared of my Christmas kitchen last week, but be sure to click over HERE to see the full reveal!

The rest of our house is either under construction (ahem… my office) or a hot mess right now… our maid seems to have taken a vacation for the past year or two…

So this is all the house tour I’m going to share this year, but I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a peek inside our home! I’m off to grab a cup of hot cocoa and read The Polar Express to the kiddos for the 948th time, but I wanted to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and happy new year!

xoxo Liz
