Skincare; not just for women.

As a woman skincare comes relatively easily, we see our Mum’s routine as we grow up, we easily talk to our friends about it and the media bombards us with adverts for new releases, meaning we all know that we should look after our skin, to keep it looking healthy and bright. But what about men?

These days skincare seems to be becoming more important to some men, but when did they first loose the love for looking after their skin? As history points to it once having been a very important part of both genders routines, back in Ancient Egypt scented oils were not only used to mask odors but also soften the skin and throughout the years since, warriors and kings have used cosmetics to make a statement about their standing.

So perhaps it is just a matter of men slowly starting to revert back to the origins of skincare (although thankfully not back to using the same, often not so healthy ingredients) and learning once again, that their skin can and does benefit from being looked after.

Of course many men, decide on the sly, to dip into their partners stash, but there are now many great brands out there who make products dedicated to looking after male skin and of course they offer a more masculine scent about them as well.

So what if you’re a male looking to just start on your skincare journey? Although sometimes first seeming overwhelming, department stores can offer a wide variety of brands to try and allow you to see the different options available. With must have staples being a face wash such as; Kiehls Rare Earth Purifying Cleanser and moisturiser such as; Lancôme Men Hydrix Balm, while extras such as face mask for extra pamper and a blemish treatment (such as this one from Origins) are both well worth keeping around.

So if you are a guy, why don’t you take on a challenge and try adding some products into your life and see what your skin thinks?
