The perfect home movie night

Neither myself or Ash are big when it comes to going out, don’t get me wrong – we love going out for the odd meal, but something like a club, well, it just isn’t really for us. Instead we are homebodies, most often content with each other’s company, a good film and perhaps a take-out or a home cooked pizza.

We try and make sure we snuggle down at least once a week and catch a film, or watch a favourite TV programme, otherwise I can end up carrying on working away on the laptop, well after he has been and come back from work.

People often look at me strangely when I say would sometimes rather wait for a film to come out on blu-ray, (unless I really cannot wait to see it), than see it at the cinema, but I have my reasons; I mean there’s the whole you have to sit from beginning to end without having a toilet break as you can’t press pause issue, then the fact often the seats are so uncomfortable you get really well acquainted with having a numb bottom. That’s without starting on having to watch adverts and the person sitting next to you who really loves crunching those crisps as loudly as possible.

Apart from comfort issues, there is the fact that watching TV at home, can be very much like a cinema, these days TVs offer a much higher quality of picture, than they did only a number of years ago, add that to the fact surround sound is available for your living room and home theatre systems are so easily come by – you may as well make a cinema of your own front room and enjoy the comfort to be able to lounge and pause at your leisure.

What about you, have you made the leap from cinema to home?
