#MySundayPhoto

The beginning of the year we had no idea how it would go, I remember wishing for a good year to be ahead of us, then late January we lost my Gran – she had been suffering dementia for the past couple of years so while her physical body was here, we had lost her spirit and humour a long time before, as each part went we mourned it – or at least I did.

A month or so later, my parents went down to see my Dad’s family my aunt mentioned a cough and the doctors had sent her for tests – it was probably nothing right? Wrong it was cancer..

Lung cancer, lots of people manage to survive that right and my aunt she is a fighter – she can do it..

A few weeks later no sorry it’s not lung cancer, its bowel cancer which has spread. Not only to her bowels but her brain..

No no – that can’t be right not my aunt, my beautiful wonderful aunt..

Slowly each part of her shut down and this week the fight was over. She’s now at peace and pain free.

Let me tell you a little about my aunt, she was my Dad’s little sister – when I was a child I would clomp around her house in her high heels, she always spoilt me, even last year she still me presents from Santa.

When I was a teenager and couldn’t talk to my parents, when my mental health was bad I would ring her – she had the knack of talking me down and calming me.

I wonder if she knew how much she meant to me and helped me.. I hope she did.

RIP France I love you.
