Growing up I had one huge love and that was musical theatre, I remember from an early age going to see things at the Oxford Hippodrome, I would get such a buzz from the music, the singing and the dancing it was amazing.

I vividly remember my first experience of the West End, my parents were trying to surprise me and had brought me tickets for my birthday to see Joseph, somehow I found them and I was so upset I thought they were going without me. It took them a while to convince me that I was going to.

It was a magical day, seeing Phillip Schofield, the wonderful stage set, the colours and the costume’s, made sure Joseph quickly became my favourite show and till this day it still holding a very special place in my heart. One of the great things about seeing a show in our great capital is of course there are so many things to do in London both before and after you see a show.

Since then I have been lucky enough to make it to London to see many more shows, as well as both in Oxford and in Birmingham after we moved.

Just before my mobility really started to suffer I was lucky enough to make it to London and see Wicked – this perfect for Halloween show is set before the stories we all know of Oz and sees Glenda and Elphaba at school, it shows how they start as friends yet end up on different sides, after one of the friends becomes misunderstood.

It truly is a wonderful musical, the set is amazing, perhaps one of the best I have seen, the detailing around it is simply incredible. While the show itself is so full of emotion, wonderful songs, a scary dragon and flying monkeys.

No matter if you are a fan of the Wizard of Oz or not, if you love musicals I whole heartedly suggest you give this wonderful show a try and it is well worth checking out if you can grab a London theatre tickets this Halloween as there is still some available.
