Green Bean Delivery Review! {Coupon code included!}

* Disclosure - I was provided items for review. Opinions are 100% honest and my own.

{Also, the DivaCup winner will be up on the blog tomorrow - keep an eye out! And I have a fantastic mama cloth review and giveaway coming up so soon as well!}

So I have this problem.

As much as I absolutely love eating fresh, locally-sourced, organic foods - we never get out to our local farmer's market.

The farmer's market in our town is held on Saturday mornings, which coincidentally are also when I work almost every week. And on the weekend days that I don't have to work, we like to wake up slow and enjoy some family quality time in the morning without rushing around to get out.

Recently though, I heard about a fantastic service that delivers fresh and local produce to our home each week - Green Bean Delivery.

Green Bean Delivery is a service local to Indiana {Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Muncie, Anderson, Batesville/Oldenburg, & Columbus}, Ohio {Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, & Harrison}, Kentucky {Louisville & Lexington}, and Missouri {St. Louis}. Green Bean is a year-round service that delivers fresh, local, and organic produce and groceries to your front door.

Yep, without you having to go anywhere at all. Fantastic, right?

There isn't any membership or sign-up fee to join, but to order the service you do have to create a standing order {which you can cancel at any time if you decide you don't love it - but after using the service I seriously doubt that would happen!}. You may choose to have a bin of produce {and groceries if you'd like!} delivered to your house either weekly or every other week, and bins range in price from $35 to $50 dollars each.

But enough talk, you all want to see what we've been getting, right?

The above photo is just a smattering of what we've received in our boxes, including items like broccoli, celery, tomatoes, apples, onions, mangoes, pears, blueberries, lettuce, strawberries, kale, leeks, spinach, asparagus, bananas, cucumber, potatoes, mushrooms, greens, chard, yams, and much, much more.

Each week our produce has been ridiculously fresh, tasty, and in excellent shape for eating - which is fantastic since I'd been becoming really frustrated at our local grocery store's wintertime selection recently. Unfortunately, our favorite grocery store's winter produce had been hit or miss, but since we've used Green Bean, we haven't had an item delivered yet that hasn't been perfectly ready for a wash and then out on the table.

One of my absolute favorite parts of the process is choosing what comes in our bin. Each week, we receive an email reminding us to log in and edit our order if we choose. You can accept the stock order if you'd like, but you can also customize your bin to more specific items as well. {For example, whenever smoothie-making week is coming up, I make sure we've ordered kale, greens, spinach, etc.}

The best part, though, is that as you choose your produce - each item is labeled. While Green Bean strives to supply mainly organic and local produce, sometimes that isn't always possible. Like in the case of the mangoes we received two weeks ago, or the bananas we received last week. Green Bean has a fantastic labeling system that allows you to choose what's most important to you - an organic product, a sustainably grown product, a product of local origin, etc.

And once you've made your produce choices, Green Bean also carries a fantastic selection of other groceries {including meat, dairy, baked goods, frozen foods, pantry staples, and more} that you may add to your bin if you'd like.

Now that's some lovely broccoli!
Since we've started using Green Bean, I absolutely love the excitement the kids have shown for the service. While Little Lady is more interested in opening and closing the box, Little Man loves to see what fresh groceries we receive each week, asking "Are the green beans here yet?" all day on our delivery day.

Once the bin arrives, we open it together and talk about each item that is delivered. Most days, I've picked out a specific item in advance to talk about - focusing on how it's grown, where it's grown, and how we cook it to eat. There have been a few delivery days where we've received items with the roots still attached {leeks, I believe were one of these} where we were able to have some fantastic conversations about how plants live and where they obtain their nutrients to grow.

At the end of our free Green Bean trial, there was not a question if we were going to continue the service - it was a definite yes. And because we are loving it so much, I wanted to share with you all a $15 discount off of your first Green Bean order!

Yay for free groceries!

To get your discount, visit the Green Bean website and enter the code 15NOml. This code is valid for new members and reactivations only, and expires one week after today!

Definitely check out the service, and let me know what you think! And if you're looking for even more information? Take a look at my friend Kristine's review of Green Bean over at Cora's Story!
