I’m Giving Myself Permission to Finish

This was my view on Friday. A small in-progress album, my Project Life album, and all the goodies I was using at the time. A big mess.

I have a few things on “my desk” right now and I think what will help me #finish these projects is writing them out…

Project Life

I made good progress on my binder this weekend. This is my 3rd year participating in Project Life and each year I fall behind because I can’t get myself organized enough to order all of the photos I need each week. Instead of letting that hold me back, I decided to move things around in the binder and focus on 1 page for each week for the weeks that didn’t have many photos already printed out. Some weeks (like when I went to Utah) will have the regular 2 page spread, but most of the others will be concentrated into 1 page. When I reminded myself that this is my project and I could move the weeks around how I wished, I could feel the guilt of not being a perfect Project Lifer lift off of my shoulders. I’ll be going back to the binders from previous years and doing the same shuffling. Here’s to keeping things simple.

Quilt Progress

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a few photos of the progress I’m making on a lap quilt. The fabric other supplies were part of a Christmas gift last year and it was time for me to get to work or admit defeat and send the supplies to somebody else. I am using the triangle quilt tutorial from Elise Blaha Cripe but I’m using 5 inch squares instead of 6 inch squares because I couldn’t be bothered to measure twice before cutting the first set of squares. Oh well! I’m working on sewing the strips for the quilt and hope to have the top of the quilt finished by the end of the month. I bought more supplies (when will I learn…) to make a similar lap quilt for a Christmas gift and hope to squeeze in one more quilt before the end of the year as another gift.

#30Lists Lists

I think this set of lists for 30 Days of Lists is my favorite so far. I use the challenge to try new things, shop my stash, and document what is going on right now in my life. I generally make my lists ahead of time and binge-create my lists, but this time I decided to take a chance and do them one week at a time (I need to do them early no matter what, otherwise the posts couldn’t go up at 2am each day) and it’s really interesting to see how things are going.

On a smaller scale, this week is for re-visiting the Addressing Your Address ebook from The Small Change Project. September is the hottest month of the year in Southern California and after being sequestered to the couch for the last 2 weeks (the only spot in the apartment where you can feel the A/C) I’m ready to change things up around here and downsize a bit. It isn’t really a project that I can fit on my desk (my monitor barely fits on my desk!) but it’s time for a change and it’s a good opportunity to get the creative juices flowing before the holidays are in full swing.

What are you working on this week?
