Hanging Plant Feature

Adding greenery in to a room can really change the dynamic of your home, we love how serene a room feels with lots of leafy houseplants. Nouvelle girl Kate gives us a tour of her hanging plant display...

The feature sits in a corner of our living room, next to our bay window - an otherwise empty space that didn't really have a purpose until the idea of the hanging feature was thought up.
I used this macrame hanging planter tutorial to create the cord baskets for the plants, making them much longer and spacing the knots out slightly, to make room for the bigger pots.

I had a few of these H&M Metal Pots (£6.99) lying around, I was using them as plant pots but I definitely wasn't maximising their true potential! I have a mint and copper theme in here, so I used Rustoleum Metallic Copper spray paint to coat a couple of the pots. It worked brilliantly and really set off the display.

For the plants, I used a mix of peace lillies (which can be found in ASDA for just £3), a couple of ivy plants in white pots (both from Homebase) and one single IKEA cacti in a white pot I painted copper.

For effect, I created each of the hanging baskets a different length, and then hung them securely from the ceiling using screw hooks. This was tricky as our ceiling is high and can be quite tough in places, but we managed it with a small drill bit and lots of patience.
Strong white cord was used for the hangers, and it looks great against the metallic pots.

This is a great way to add greenery to a room, especially if you're short on surface space or just fancy creating a decorative feature that breathes life in to the room!

Would you try a hanging plant display?
