Time to bloom... (Pushing The Right Buttons)

Hi everyone. It's the second week of the latest Frilly and Funkie challenge, 'Time After Time' and our host, Nancy, has requested that we create a project with clocks and time as the theme.
This gave me the perfect opportunity to reach for my Tim Holtz 'Clockwork' stencil and some Wendy Vecchi embossing pastes.

The main panel was created on a jumbo manilla tag in several stages; after using Tim's 'Eroded Metals' technique on it (with Tarnished Brass Distress Paint) I smeared some Wendy Vecchi gold embossing paste over parts of it before applying her Crackle embossing paste through the stencil.
When dry I blended Cornflower Blue and Fern Green Archival Ink over the raised areas.

Putting papers from the Tim Holtz 'Wallflower' collection is becoming something of an addiction and a Tumbled Glass patterned piece coordinated perfectly with the stencilled panel (ever noticed how you start looking at colours in terms of their Distress Ink equivalents?)

Some of Wendy Vecchi's recent stamp collections have the most fantastic 'border' designs on them and this one from the Blooming Art set proved perfect for edging the metallic panel. You can see I also used the sentiment, foliage and bloom stamps from this set too. Over at The Funkie Junkie Boutique all Wendy Vecchi stamp sets and stencils are discounted until 4th April so now is definitely the time to invest in them!

It's always good to use new stamps alongside old favourites, and the Tim Holtz 'Mini Blueprints 4' worked so well with this theme. Fussy cutting each stamped element may take time but it allows you to layer them in ways that compliment each other and help combine the colours used.

You might just spy the shot of bright yellow behind the flowers. I love using little pieces from the 'Patchwork' Texture Fades embossing folder and in this case added Crackle Accents to the debossed/unsanded areas of the Coredinations card.

I used more sanded Coredinations card in one of the new Frameworks dies and for the mini alarm clock. Texture and colour all in one hit - great! It's difficult to see clearly but in the top right hand corner there are more glimpses of that 'Eroded Metals' background. As the tag was longer than the card blank the top bit got chopped off. Never one to waste a scrap I stamped it and ran it through the same Frameworks die, fitting some of the inside shapes into the spaces. A quick suggestion if you have any of these dies; keep all the spare grids and inside shapes from each die in a box so that you can create the perfect patchwork pieces with any offcuts.

Having put it all together something was missing... the joy of having little embellishments to hand means you can always play around and see what fits. In this case I chopped into a bronze daisy and tucked pieces in.
