#ManiMonday: Deborah Lippmann Polka Dots and Moonbeams

Today's #ManiMonday is one I'm pretty darn excited about. While I was looking through my stash of untrieds last night, I came across Deborah Lippmann Polka Dots And Moonbeams. I must admit I've been holding onto this one for awhile for two reasons: 1) I loved it in the bottle, but wasn't sure how I'd feel about it once it was on my nails, and 2) I thought removal was going to be a big pain in the you know what. Well, I'm here to tell you that I was crazy for being worried, because I. Love. This. Color.

Polka Dots And Moonbeams was originally created for the Staccato Nail Collection for Spring 2013. I had been obsessing over the three different colors in this collection for awhile, and I'm glad I was finally given the opportunity to try this one. This polish is best described as a milky white base with miniature flecks of black hexagonal glitter.

This polish is actually amazingly buildable. One coat is pretty sheer but already packs on a fair amount of glitter, two coats lend almost opaque coverage, and three are what you see here. I love that with each layer, the black glitter takes on a blueish cast, while the polish has a sandwich-like effect. I'm really impressed with how much glitter is distributed with each coat and how well it stays in place once applied. The overall effect is somewhat dreamy, as the glitter is scattered haphazardly.

As for my second reason for hesitation in trying, I haven't removed it yet, but I think it will be fairly easy as this polish doesn't have a gritty, glitter-like texture but looks and feels like a creme. Remains to be seen but I have a feeling it won't be as painful as I originally feared!

What's on your nails right now? And what do you think of this color? Let me know in the comments!
