Our Farmhouse - Living Room Progress

One of my favorite rooms in our farmhouse is the living room. It's so spacious! Before I can jump to the fun part of furniture placement and decorating, I had to decide on paint. I painted a million little sample swatches all over the walls before finally deciding on the one.
Before, our living room was dark, dreary, and dated.

Now it's brighter and much more inviting thanks to lots of paint.

The color I chose for the walls is Sherwin Williams Intellectual Gray. It is the perfect warm gray color and looks good in any light. It's hard to show the true color in photos. In person it's not quite this dark.
As for the fireplace wall, the trim and cabinets are Valspar's Ultra White, and the backs of the built-ins are Sherwin Williams Gauntlet Gray. My mom wallpapered the backing of the bookcases with beadboard wallpaper and I love how it turned out! I decided to keep the shelves wooden to tie this part of the room with the wooden doors throughout the house, and the staircase. I'm trying to make sure that the entire house flows nicely from room to room.

So far I've only painted one coat of primer on the bricks, but they already look so much better than they did before. When I'm done, they will be a nice bright gloss white. I'm also going to replace those can lights with nice new white ones. Baby steps, baby steps.

The power of paint never ceases to amaze me! I began painting the kitchen cabinets today, so hopefully I will have an update on that project soon!
Have a BLESSED day!
