Dirty Dogs Contest Helps Shelter Animals
Celebrating its third year, the contest– launched by GreaterGood.org and Wahl pet grooming products– features the before and after photos of 25 transformed tail-wagging finalists selected by Seth Casteel of “Underwater Dogs” fame and celebrity pet groomer Jorge Bendersky. The pup-loving public are invited to choose the competition’s top dogs, with the winning adoptables receiving $5,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third place, to be donated to their affiliated animal shelter.
As 73 per cent of all pet adoptions start with an online search, a companion animal’s shelter photo is often their best chance to catch the attention of a possible adopter. Wahl and GreaterGood.org are helping to promote the option of pet adoption through the One Picture Saves a Life Dirty Dogs Before & After Gallery, which showcases both Fidos and felines who have families and shelter animals who now look ‘picture perfect’ for potential pet parents thanks in part to Wahl’s donation of more than 1,000 bottles of pet shampoo to animal shelters across the country. Animal lovers can look for pets in need of forever homes by sorting the gallery’s photos for adoptable only, or by looking for the heart icon on the top right hand corner of each adoptable pet’s picture.
The Dirty Dogs Before & After Gallery is an extension of the One Picture Saves a Life Campaign– a collaboration among pet industry leaders to change public perceptions about rescued animals and provide grooming and photography resources to shelters. The campaign includes a five-city tour with Seth Casteel and Jorge Bendersky, which will stop at North Shore Animal League America’s campus in Port Washington, New York on August 3rd.
The Dirty Dogs Contest runs through July 30th, with an announcement of the winners on August 2nd.
