Bump Update: 29 Weeks

29 weeks didn’t sound that scary to me until I stopped to think about it and figured out that I only have 11 weeks before I reach my due date. That doesn’t sound like much time at all! To be honest i actually thought I would be a lot bigger at this stage of pregnancy so I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how neat my bump still is. I don’t want to speak TOO soon though because my mum forewarned me that she got huge in the last month of pregnancy…but then again I think most women do!

Total Weight Gain – 19lbs – Only 1lb of weight gain creeped on in these past 7 days so I’m pretty happy with that. In all the pregnancy articles I’ve read, that seems to be the norm and means baby is growing healthily. The funny thing is that I’m nowhere near the weight I was at my biggest a few years back. I managed to lose all that weight and keep it off for the past 4 years so I reckon I can handle this!
Maternity clothes? New Look very kindly sent me some maternity clothes in honour of Mothers Day this Sunday which I was so grateful for. Especially since they sent me the pastel blue version of that bright pink crepe dress I got recently. It’s not even maternity wear but I’ve found that they work so well and flatter my bump. They will be the perfect daytime dress for after the birth too so I can make the most out of them in summer. I plan on picking up a couple more pairs of the Topshop Leigh Maternity jeans because I practically live in my grey pair!
Stretch marks? The 4 stretch marks I have developed have definitely been growing slightly, becoming a bit deeper and more red. This I am NOT happy about but in the big scheme of things, they don’t register much on my worry list. The pressure nowadays to have the perfect stretch mark-free bump is just silly. I am becoming a mother and I can’t expect to get to that point without some war wounds! ha ha.
Sleep: Oh dear…sleep for this week started off really badly. This may be TMI but I had trapped wind three nights in a row and it was agony. I hardly slept and after the third night of hardly any sleep, I just felt so drained and emotional. Luckily that phase passed and I managed to start getting some more sleep towards the end of the week. Today is the first day in a while that I actually woke up feeling well rested. What a difference that makes!
Best moment this week: Just generally watching my tummy move around – it’s so incredible to see your baby nudging about. It never stops feeling kind of weird but amazing at the same time.
Miss anything? This week I definitely missed a good night’s sleep!
Food cravings: My cravings have subsided although I’m still very partial to an ice lolly now and again. It’s something about crunching on the ice…
Anything making you queasy or sick? If baby gets in a funny position sometimes it feels like my stomach is being squashed and that can make me feel suddenly nauseous.
Gender: Keeping you guys guessing!
Symptoms: The worst symptom this week was definitely the trapped wind I experienced so that kind of eclipsed anything else I was feeling. It made constant heartburn seem like a walk in the park! I did start to get some headaches this week which I’ve read is normal.
Happy or moody most of the time: I did feel a bit down in the dumps at the start of this week due to lack of sleep etc and that can sometimes be difficult to drag yourself out of. Your body is under such pressure that sometimes it can be hard psychologically to pull yourself out of that mood. However, every morning is a new day and I always try to keep things in perspective. I have definitely felt a lift in my mood today and long may it continue!
Looking forward to: Spending Mother’s Day on Sunday with my amazing mum who has done so much for me since I got pregnant. She comes round every Friday and cleans the house top to bottom and she has been painting some rooms in my house for me. We have a day of shopping and lunching planned! I wish I could also spend the day with my mother-in-law Maddie because we are so close and I love her so much.

Oh and we have now booked our Babymoon trip to Stobo Castle in the Scottish Borders in May! If you don’t know what the term ‘baby moon’ means, it basically just means the last romantic getaway with your partner before the baby arrives. It’ll just be a chance for us to relax, be pampered, eat nice food and enjoy spending some alone time together. It’s not always easy to find the time in your daily lives to really appreciate each other’s company without any distractions. I didn’t want to book it TOO close to my due date in case I went into labour in one of Stobo Castle’s outdoor hot tubs! ha ha. I don’t think that would go down too well! We will be spending a couple of days there and I can’t wait!
