What I Wore: Summer Edit

I personally love reading other people’s style posts and it’s a great way of getting inspiration for your summer wardrobe. Scotland certainly isn’t renowned for it’s warm climate but we do get some nice weather during the summer months. The time has come to dig out the fake tan and get my pins out. It’s only been 2 and a half weeks since I gave birth and I’m more surprised than anyone that my body seems to be snapping back into shape MUCH faster than I thought it would. I reckon that’s all down to breastfeeding and having a demanding baby who wants to be fed every hour! I have treated myself to some new summer clothes and whilst I won’t be throwing on any crop tops, I like to think that I can be a stylish new mummy! If I haven’t included a link to any of the items I’m wearing here it’s because it’s no longer available in stores (sorry!).

Topshop fine knitted jumper | Topshop Leigh Tile Print jeans | Zara wedges | Michael Kors bag | Zara necklace | River Island sunglasses

I first saw these Topshop jeans on Anna of ViviannaDoesMakeup (if you don’t follow her/watch her on YouTube then you must do so immediately! She’s amazing). I fell in love with them as soon as I laid eyes on them because it’s quite unusual to find such a pretty print and the Leigh style is my very favourite. I kept it summery and fresh by teaming it with a lightweight white knitted top and some wedges I picked up in the Zara sale for just £19.99! The Michael Kors was a very recent purchase – a push present from me to myself!

Boohoo dress | Zara wedges | Michael Kors bag | Zara sunglasses

Boohoo is a great website for summer dresses and I couldn’t resist this neon pattern one. These kinds of shift dresses with short sleeves are just so easy to wear in the summer months because they’re lightweight, not too fitted and don’t really need much accessorising. This one is only £20 and has a dipped hem at the back so you can avoid those embarrassing ‘flashing your knickers’ incidents when you bend over! I haven’t completely lost my ‘mum tim’ just yet so this will be a tad looser on my torso once that has gone down.

Topshop Shirt | H&M shorts (not on site but still in stores!) | Next wedges | Michael Kors bag | Zara necklace | Zara sunglasses

There’s something so fresh and summery about the contrast of blue denim and white. Some of the best outfits are the simple ones and I love this casual look. I’ve had the wedges for a couple of years and love to dig them out every summer because they go with everything. These shorts are from H&M and they’re currently in the sale for about £7. I can’t see them online but I’ve seen them in my local store so go and have a dig around if you like them! They have an elasticated waist and tiny holes in the material – great and airy for warmer weather.

Mango dress | Warehouse sandals | Michael Kors bag | River Island sunglasses

I had been after a denim shirt dress for ages after stalking various styles on Pinterest. It’s just such an easy piece to throw on in summer and it gives that smart casual look whereby you can dress it down with flat sandals or glam it up a bit with colourful heels. I chose to style it with these new Warehouse wedges which have a lovely leopard print strap detail over the front. They are uber comfortable and the wedge isn’t too high so they’re perfect for when you know you’re going to be on your feet all day.

Zara jumper | Topshop shorts | Warehouse sandals | Michael Kors bag | Mango necklace | Zara sunglasses

I fell in love with the summery colour of this Zara jumper and I love the fact that it’s a lightweight fabric. It’s great for chucking over a dress, wearing with shorts or a skirt. It’s the kind of colour that just makes you look really healthy – which I think we all love. This is just a really casual look you can put together to go for a stroll with baby in the park. I love these shorts from Topshop because they aren’t super short…who wants their ass hanging out when they’re pushing their baby along in the park? (or at any time for that matter! ha ha). Oh and they are also incredibly comfortable too!

Zara shirt (not on site but still in stores) | Topshop Leigh Tile Print Jeans | H&M flats | Modalu bag

This flowy blouse from Zara is a great summer piece because it’s very lightweight and looks great teamed with skinny jeans for that contrast in silhouette. Once again here are those gorgeous tile print jeans from topshop which can be put together with so many different colours and styles – I’m so glad I bought them! I am still in love with these Magenta flats from H&M and of course my magenta suede Pippa bag from Modalu.

Zara t-shirt | H&M shorts (not on site but still in stores) | Dune boots | Reiss bag | Topshop necklace | Zara sunglasses

I love logo t-shirts teamed with shorts for summer – Zara do some really great ones. I always look for thin, airy fabrics so i don’t overheat in summer. Slightly oversized styles work best for this kind of look and they’re also great for disguising a ‘mum tum’! Who says boots are just for autumn/winter? I love wearing these Dune leopard print boots with shorts, dresses and skirts.
