Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation

I remember back in the day when I used to wear Max Factor Lasting Performance foundation so I guess I have fond memories of the brand. It’s recent revamped image and plethora of new launches has peaked everyone’s interest in the blogging world. Max Factor has been around for a very long time and it’s the kind of brand that produces quality products that deliver.

I was recently sent the Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation (£11.99) to try out and I will be completely honest in that my initial impression of this particular product was that it probably wouldn’t be substantial enough to meet my foundation needs. I assumed this base product would be somewhat of a BB cream or tinted moisturiser.

“Want coverage that enhances your skin rather than masking it? Try skin luminizer foundation, which cleverly uses light-reflecting particles to create a gorgeous healthy-looking glow.

  • Subtle skin luminizers are specially designed to reflect ‘warm’ light tones.
  • Also contains a hydrator that helps improve skin’s condition to create a healthy glow from within.
  • Medium coverage with a dewy finish.
  • Handy pump dispenser”

Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation offers the perfect combination of radiance and coverage.”

I have been pleasantly surprised by this Max Factor foundation. It contains Vitamin E and B5 which makes it a really comfortable to wear, hydrating foundation that leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. It looks like a whipped, creamy formula when you first dispense it from the pump applicator. The coverage is medium with a dewy finish but no sign of oiliness or shine. Despite being medium coverage it actually looks very natural on the skin and allows the texture of your skin to show through. This would be a great foundation for more mature skin because it has such a natural, lightweight finish. It does feel slightly ‘slippy’ when you first blend it into your skin but it soon sets nicely.

From what I can tell, the swirl on the packaging is just for effect and not representative of the actual product in the bottle. Speaking of the packaging, it’s the only aspect of the product that I’m not keen on. It is light and ‘plasticky’ and in my opinion, doesn’t do the product justice at all. I guess it’s handy for travel though. It has pretty good staying power and lasting for 7 or 8 hours on my skin before showing signs of wear. I tried the shade ‘natural’ but I was a little confused at the name – I think they could have done a little better in naming the shades in the range. The name ‘natural’ doesn’t really give any description of the gradient of colour. Also, in the US there are 14 shades in this foundation range, however there only seems to be 6 available here.

This foundation could actually hold it’s own against many of the higher end illuminating foundations on the market! A little work on the packaging, more shades in the UK and it’s very close to being perfection!
