Showmen’s Rest
Sam and I both end up in Oklahoma more often than makes very much sense, so it’s always nice to find something new to visit. Next time I’m around, I’ll be taking a drive to Hugo, OK, once known as Circus City, USA. The off-season home for two different circuses, so many performers spent their final years here that Mt. Olivet Cemetery set aside a plot of land just for them, known as Showmen’s Rest. Memorials include rearing elephants, big tops, and a life-size ringmaster.
