Hoop-La Blog Tour: Feeling Stitchy

Halfway through this whirlwind blog tour already (how did that happen?), and today I’m welcoming Floresita, the lovely editor and founder of Feeling Stitchy.

NAME: Floresita

BLOG: Feeling Stitchy

NOTES: Feeling Stitchy has a very special place in my heart, partly because of the wonderful selection of embroidery they feature, but also because, as the winner of a competition way back in 2008, I designed their banner! The fact they include so much work by normal readers, just like me, is one of the things that makes it such a terrific site. From simple embroidery projects suitable for – and sometimes sewn by – absolute beginners, right up to incredible stitched works of fine art, it’s a fantastically varied and inclusive source of stitchy inspiration.

DON'T MISS: As well as editing and contributing to Feeling Stitchy, Floresita also has a personal blog, Things I've Made, which is a great mix of embroidery projects, everyday life and inspiration from around the internet.

THREE FAVOURITE POSTS:

Feeling Stitchy stitchalongs offer up a free pattern, invite readers to sew their own, unique version of the design, then document images of work-in-progress and finished projects. You can find a list of stitchalong patterns here, including Reginald, the pirate hummingbird, who has my heart.

The regular Tuesday Tutorials feature includes great ideas for putting embroidery to practical use on things like this pretty gadget case.

OK, so it’s not a post, but many of those published on Feeling Stitchy feature work uploaded to the blog's Embroidery group on Flickr. As well as browsing a huge selection of other people’s stitched projects, you can also add your own images, whether they’re patterns, work-in-progress or finished pieces.

PS. Several of the tour guests, including Feeling Stitchy, are offering original hoop projects from the book as giveaway prizes. If you’ve not caught up with all of the posts so far, now would be a good time to scroll down, click through and get reading!
