Holiday Traditions

I am all about traditions during the Christmas season. With a 2 year old, we are still in the process of figuring out our family’s traditions.

Here’s a few of the things we did this year to make the season special. I hope these traditions are continued year after year!

Holiday Train

The train in our area is decorated with lights and transports Santa and a choir one weekend in December. They make several stops at different stations and put on a quick concert before heading on to the next station. Its is so much fun.

Cookie Decorating

I hosted eight 2 year olds and their moms to decorate sugar cookies and ice cream cone Christmas trees. Yes, I am crazy. We had a great time! Mia especially loved decorating (and eating the cookies). My cookie parties used to be less messy and more productive. You can see them here and here. But this year’s was more fun.

Visiting Santa

She loved everything about visiting Santa at our mall, except when she realized I was going to try to leave her on his lap and walk away. I love this picture, and will probably laugh every year when I pull it out of the Christmas box. Don’t worry, I rescued her and she recovered quickly.

Christmas Lights

We got together with our friends and got hot cocoa and then walked through a local neighborhood that is very serious about their Christmas lights. She loved it. A few houses had music, and she spent about 20 minutes dancing on the sidewalk in front of this one. I will never forget that moment.

I love this time of year!
