Who'd have thunk it?

"Who'd have thunk it?" is one my little grandson's favorite expressions. We say it to one another all of the time when something weird or unexpected happens. It always makes him laugh.
On Saturday night I had dinner with 2 couples. A big "Who'd have thunk it?" to that. I am rarely invited to these types of dinner parties. To add to this strange experience was the fact that one of the men was my old college boyfriend. I must admit that I had a very nice evening. Fun conversation, some laughs and I didn't even feel as out of place as I thought I would be. "Who'd have thunk it?"
Over the past 7 years I have done many things that deserve a "Who'd have thunk it?" I have gone zip lining, traveled alone, bought 2 cars, ran a business, written a blog, etc. But I think it is the little things that widows have to do alone that makes us say to ourselves "Who'd have thunk it?"
Coming home to an empty house. Making all financial decisions. Taking care of kids or parents or both. Sleeping alone. Pretending to be okay when we're anything but okay. Being ignored by family or close friends. I could go on and on. Did you ever think that any or all of these scenarios would describe your life?
What have you done since your husband died that makes you say "Who'd have thunk it?"
