A Little Opulent

5 Reasons To Love Being A Morning Person

I spent many of my earlier years as a very stubborn night owl, refusing to see any benefits in being an early riser. As the years have gone on and I now find myself self employed, working from home, and with daily to-do lists that need my full attention, I've started to find that there are many wonders when it comes to being a morning person. For any other early birds, or in-betweener's trying to deciding which way to go, here are five reasons I think being a morning person is awesome:

You can get more done by 10am than some do by 5pm I tend to be my most productive the first few hours of each day, and I can usually cross off at least half of my to-do list by lunch time on the days when I rise that little bit earlier. Tapping into your productivity levels in the morning, avoiding all distractions, and getting down to work first thing is one of the best ways I've found to really get stuff done.

You can build in a little me time I tend to wake up anytime between 6am and 7.30am, and having the whole day ahead of me means that I can fit in half an hour in the morning just to relax and catch up with my favourite things. Whether it's by browsing my Bloglovin' feed, catching up with the latest videos on YouTube, or reading a chapter or two of my current read; a little time to myself in the morning is an awesome way to start my day on a positive note.

You’ll build a better sleeping pattern Of course, the earlier you rise the earlier you will then head to bed come evening. After years of a terrible sleeping pattern, I've found early mornings have actually helped me to build a routine that works for me and even though I'm rarely awake past 11pm these days, I'm having the best sleep I've had in years. If you're struggling to get a good nights sleep, we shared some advice a few months back here.

Breakfast will become your favourite meal of the day I used to despise breakfast as a child, nothing ever excited me about cereal or plain old toast. These days though I'm a big advocate for the first meal of the day, and I really enjoy experimenting throughout the week and taking the time to make the most out of breakfast. My personal favourites have to be french toast with maple syrup, a poached egg on toast, or on special occasions a full english breakfast. If you're in need of some inspiration, we shared Seven Breakfast Ideas We Love a few weeks back.

You can watch the sunrise A super simple morning pleasure, now that winter is here and the sun rarely shows its face before 8am I've really been enjoying watching the sunrise as I tackle my morning admin. It's the little things in life that make all the difference, and enjoying the quiet and peacefulness that comes with the first few hours of the morning really helps me to start my work day in a positive and relaxed frame of mind.

What about you, are you a morning person?
