Onion Rings
Ingredients:
Onions 2
Maida 1/4 Cup 1 tablespoon
Corn flour 1 tablespoon
Red Chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon
Pepper Powder 1/2 teaspoon
Hing a Pinch
Bread Crumbs 1/4
Bicarbonate of Soda 1/4 teaspoon
Buttermilk 1/2 cup
Oil For Frying
Salt To Taste
* 1 Cup Capacity = 250ml

Method:
  1. Peel the onion skin and slice the onions in circular pieces and take the rings from each circle. Take a bowl and add maida, corn flour, spice powders, salt, baking soda and mix well with a whisk

  • To this flour add bread crumbs and mix well. The breadcrumbs help in a thicker consistency of the batter and also gives crispiness to the rings. Finally add buttermilk and mix well to form a thick batter like our bajji batter

  • Dust the onion rings in maida and keep it ready. Dusting in flour helps to hold the batter to the rings when we dip the rings in the batter. Heat oil in a pan for frying the rings. When the oil is hot enough, take the rings one by one, dip it in the batter and drop it gently in the oil. Deep fry the onion rings in medium flame till they become crispy and golden brown colour. Remove the onion rings from oil and place it in a paper towel to drain the excess oil

  • The crispy, mouth-watering Onion Rings are now ready to serve!
