Event: Betsy & Iya: Six Years + Expansion = Party

Celebrate a huge milestone with local jewelry designer, Betsy Cross, and her team at betsy & iya as they crown their six-year anniversary with an expansion party in their newly renovated space.

The renovation has been in progress for the past five months, with teasers being blogged on their website and Instagram. On Friday, May 9th starting at 6 pm you can finally see what the fuss was all about—and there will be more than just a cool space to feast your eyes on.

Guests will be invited into the new production and office spaces, with locally sourced gin and vodka cocktails provided by New Deal Distillery and Oregon-made wines from Union Wine Co. Festivities include on-site creation of the betsy & iya one-of-a-kind cuff and the unveiling of an original commissioned artwork by Emily Katz, honoring the city’s artists and makers.

Katz’ original artwork is a “Maker Shrine” commissioned by Betsy Cross, and will be constructed strictly out of materials donated by artists and makers citywide as an homage to the local network betsy & iya is part of (Katz herself is a local artist and designer). Material contributors include Beam & Anchor, Folly, Magbig, Grayling, Mazama Wares, Caravan Pacific, Sword & Fern, and several others.

Also look for food from Pacific Pie Co., handmade candy from QUIN, raffle items donated by retailers like Radish Underground, Rock n’ Rose, Tender Loving Empire, Tilde, and Vitreluxe Glassworks in Sellwood, plus a private betsy & iya shopping party for five valued at $300. They'll also be sealing a time capsule into the renovation, containing betsy & iya’s trademark “Mad Libs”-style notes from customers. The May 9 party starts at 6 pm at 2403 NW Thurman.
