INSTA LIFE LATELY

A couple weeks ago, my parents went on vacation and Zach and I stayed with Matt. First off let me tell you that it wasn’t easy. You can read about it here. Second, we had the time of our lives creating memories with that boy that we will have forever. Here are a few of our pictures.

This kid seriously is my best friend. He makes me so happy. He can’t wait to be “Uncle Matt”. He asks me everyday how the baby is and if he can be Uncle Matt today. He worries about me and the baby more than anyone else!

Matt is getting so independent at school and I am so proud of him. He frosted this cookie (which is fine motor skills and quadriplegics don’t have fine motor skills) with some help. He did so well and was so proud of himself! He is so loving and giving. He brought this cookie home to one of his nurses to tell him thank you for taking care of him and getting him ready for bed.

Zach was SO helpful while my parents were gone. I had to have me and Matt up and ready to go by 6:40 every morning. That isn’t an easy task! Zach would come down and brush Matt’s teeth, move him to his wheelchair or do whatever else was needed. I am so blessed to have a husband that loves Matt as much as I do!

When Zach works outside Matt always wants to help. Zach is always so good about finding a way for Matt to feel apart and include him. Here they were moving rocks. (Matt has rocks on his foot rests, they just are cropped out). They had to use their strong muscles to move them. Zach never makes Matt feel as if he can’t do something and is always looking for ways to include Matt more and adapt things for him.

It’s $1 hot chocolate month at Maverik and it is my favorite time of the year. Me and Matt made lots of hot chocolate runs! HE always is so concerned about others even though he eats through a tummy tube. He worries that I have a drink, what I have for lunch, and everything.

We had a TON of movie nights! Matt loves to sit on the couch for awhile and I don’t blame him! I am sure his wheelchair can get uncomfortable after sitting there all day. His favorite movie is Pitch Perfect and he loves Fat Amy. He would sing along with all the songs and laugh so hard every time she was on.

I seriously couldn’t ask for a better best friend. I am so blessed to be his sister and to spend everyday with him. He truly lights up my life. He is the greatest example to me of happiness and service. He has the kindest heart and it shows more than anything! I love you MATT!
