.THE BROKEN CIRCLE BREAKDOWN.

This film is probably the best one i´ve seen this year. I know i don´t post much about movies even though i´m a movieaholic but i needed to share this experience cause it was definitely worth watching and i just want to spread the word so none of you miss it.
At first, i fell in love with the movie poster. I did not know the actors or the director and i had never seen a belgian movie before but the image i found on tumblr, spoke to me. There was this blonde covered in tattoos wearing a bikini with the colors of the American flag kissing a bearded man. The picture was perfect, THEY looked so beautiful together, something told me i had to give it a try. This was the plot i found on IMDB: “Elise and Didier fall in love at first sight, in spite of their differences. He talks, she listens. He's a romantic atheist, she's a religious realist. When their daughter becomes seriously ill, their love is put on trial” "It would be a bittersweet movie, one of many", i thought but the minute i started watching this beauty, my heart silenced my mind and took over. It was the perfect love story with this huge drama but yet it was so beautiful, intense and overwhelming, the only thing left was to fall for it despite the obvious sadness of having to deal with a serious health problem of a child.
Now let me give you MY plot description. If you read this and you are like me, you would definitely watch this no matter what. Didier is a cowboy with no tattoos who plays the banjo in a bluegrass band and lives alone in a caravan in the country next to a few chickens and a horse named Earl. Elise is a wild girl with tattoos, a smooth singing voice for ballads and a lovely smile who owns a tattoo shop in town. They meet by chance and it´s love at first sight. That first encounter is so simple, casual and genuine you can feel the perfect intimacy between them already. He invites her to see a bluegrass band on a Friday night, his own, music plays cupid and the next thing you know they are starting something beautiful and extremely passionate. Yes, love is not easy, they see life differently and have different beliefs but they have one thing in common, each other. Elise joins his band and they share music together, which becomes an important aspect in their lives. Music is the vehicle of their emotions, something good or bad happens, it´s always there for them. 7 years go by and then we get to meet Maybelle, their lovely daughter. We also come across the main drama and the question, IS LOVE ENOUGH? The movie goes back and forth many times and you witness how these two characters change and grow. At times, Didier looks like a giant with a big heart and Elise is like this tiny china doll that he wants to protect with his body and soul. After watching this movie, you will want a Didier in your life, believe me!. I warn you, your heart will love and hate, smile and cry more than once but you musn´t ignore such an amazing well writen and well acted film. Veerle Baetens (Elise) and Jonah Heldenbergh (Didier) give two memorable performances,. At times their acting is so true and their chemistry is so strong, you could feel your heart a bit heavy. I still have mixed emotions with this movie but in the end, i guess love was enough for me and stronger than the whole drama.Yes, my heart died a little with this movie but it also touched it so deep that i had to write about it. Take my advice, don´t miss it but keep in mind you´ll be watching "an intense melodrama wrapped around a beautiful love story with a lovely musical background" all in one.
