Sheer Delight in Lace

Call it nostalgia for I can still recollect the first time I wore a dress made of lace - which was more or less 14 years ago, when I was one. No, that was an utter exaggeration. The truth is, I saw a photograph of my ankle-biter self, wearing a scoop-neck, nipped-waist yellow lace dress, next to my eldest sister who was wearing a dress of the self-same design. We used to buy the same clothing, however, in different sizes until the day we had opened our eyes and parted our ways styling-wise. I mean, although those times were the just-cotton-tee-that-comes-together-with-a-pair-of-shorts kind of years, we still possess the freewill to choose the clothing of our preference, or to nod our disapproval to our mom at the very least.
To think that it was sewn in the late 90's, I can jump into conclusion that it was then a vintage piece of dress that I wish I kept myself for the next generation of ours. However, just like seasons, trends change and come back in cycle!
Just this spring, lace was a big hit in the high-end brands' haute couture collection. From Elie Saab's intricate designs to Valentino's I'm-wearing-all-lace getup, guipure fabric is at its finer state. It's become a louder voice to speak for the lady-like and femininity. Guipure producers must be made of money now!

Achieving his signature style, the beadwork has been rendered intricately in embroideries on the diaphanous fabrics of lace and tulle. The demure necklines, illusion sheer panels, and accentuating long sleeves, Elie Saab has taken my breath away with the seemingly floating embroideries on account of the varying transparencies of the fabrics.

Zuhair Murad's designs were unveiled in provocative elegance. The appearance of lighter-than-air chiffon and tulle has employed an impact of bare-skin sensuality, with a tinge of demure femininity from the dazzling embroideries in lace.

Haven't had enough? Here's a little sneak peek on other high-end brands' Haute Couture Spring 2013 collection:
