Vegan LVX Nail Lacquer Spring 2014 Review + Giveaway

Last month I took my LVX Spring 2014 Collection with me to Lima, Peru and found this collection of neutrals and vibrant colors fit in perfectly amongst the beautifully bright, sunny and coastal streets of the Miraflores district. Vibrant and inviting, these colors complement LVX’s Spring 2014 collection, including Pantone Color of the Year for 2014′s Radiant Orchid. I will be giving away a random selection of six nail polishes from the current collection and LVX past collections (Winter Resort 2014, Fall 2013, Summer 2013, Spring 2013 and Winter Resort 2013) to one winner. These were my personal samples and as much as I love them, I know I won’t be able to use them all, so I’m sharing the love with you all.

about

The brother-sister duo, Branka and Rade Tomic founded LVX, a vegan nail-lacquer line. Made in the U.S.A., their products are vegan, cruelty-free, 5-free and free of toxic and harsh chemicals. LVX denotes ‘lux’ in Latin, meaning light, the essence of all color. LVX products are formulated without the use of formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene, and camphor. Their formula also does not contain guanine (fish scales), silk, keratin or carmine. Their long-lasting and chip resistant lacquers are heavily pigmented and many only require one coat with no top coat.

the verdict

Prior to the release of the Spring 2014 Collection, I was expecting LVX to release one of these vibrant colors such as Radiant Orchid, which is the Pantone Color of the Year 2014. The spring 2014 collection is a pleasantly balanced variety of neutral and vibrant colors. All of them present a smooth finish-high shine. The nail polishes last about 4-6 days and still look amazing with no chipping (as long as there’s no hardcore kitchen prepping or dishwashing involved). I recommend using a base coat for most LVX nail polishes such as the LVX 3 in 1 Treatment. My top colors are Roux and Orchid. What’s yours?

Vegan LVX Nail Lacquer Spring 2014: Orchid

Pantone chose a pinkish-fuschia purple color, known as Radiant Orchid as the Color of the Year for 2014. According to Pantone, Radiant Orchid is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. LVX’s Orchid (Spring 2014) is an unique blend of fuchsia, pink and purple undertones that makes it more wearable. It is my favorite shade from Spring 2014 collection.

My manicure above consists of one clear base coat (LVX 3 in 1 Treatment) and two coats of Orchid.

Vegan LVX Nail Lacquer Spring 2014: Roux

Roux (Spring 2014) is a bright orange-fuchsia and/or stunning coral-pink color that will get you noticed right away. Try pairing Roux with Orchid for an ultra feminine look. It gives a good color pop to your hands. It would suit any skin tones really well.

My manicure above consists of one clear base coat (LVX 3 in 1 Treatment) and two coats of Roux.

Vegan LVX Nail Lacquer Spring 2014: Truffle

A deep mushroom taupe creme with a touch of earthy gray undertone, Truffle (Spring 2014) is one of the neutral go-to shades. The color is calm and neutral, creamy with earth tones and suits fair to medium skinned tones like mine. This is a great color for everyday wear. This one is one of my least favorite colors – I tend to avoid earthy colors.

My manicure above consists of one clear base coat (LVX 3 in 1 Treatment) and two coats of Truffle.

Vegan LVX Nail Lacquer Spring 2014: Monaco

Did you know that “Monaco Blue” was one of the top Pantone colors for Spring 2013? My first impression on Monaco (Spring 2014) was indeed “reminiscent of beautiful European shoreline” and/or sensational Mediterranean blue waters. Monaco is a combination of royal blue and navy blue, but darker than Cerulean (Spring 2013). Always use one or double base coats, especially with darker and more intense colors.

My manicure above consists of double clear base coats due to dark pigments (LVX 3 in 1 Treatment) and one coat of Monaco.

Vegan LVX Nail Lacquer Spring 2014: d’Orsay

d’Orsay (Spring 2014) is a nude creme with faint peachy and yellow undertones. Three words to describe this shade: soft, fresh and elegant. This is reminiscent of another LVX shade from Winter Resort Collection 2013: Creamfields. A versatile and classy color for Spring. Speaking of “d’Orsay”, Musée d’Orsay (Paris, France) was one of my favorite museums and I remember how we would get up so early in the morning to go to Musée d’Orsay on the first Sunday of the month (free admission) and hundreds of locals and tourists were already there. d’Orsay required three coats to be fully opaque due to slight streakiness but the consistency was nicely balanced and not too thick.

My manicure above consists of one clear base coat (LVX 3 in 1 Treatment), two or three coats of D’Orsay and one layer of topcoat (LVX 3 in 1 Treatment).

Vegan LVX Nail Lacquer Spring 2014: Cameo

Cameo (Spring 2014) is a deep fuchsia color with hints of maroon. Classic nail colors like Cameo never go out of style. Spring has yet to happen in Oregon, it felt like a chilly and wet winter. Cameo is a perfect shade for the transitional period between Winter and Spring. Always use one or double base coats, especially with darker and more intense colors.

My manicure above consists of double clear base coats (LVX 3 in 1 Treatment) and two to three coats of Cameo due to dark creme.

Bottom line, I consider the LVX Spring 2014 collection unique and well worth splurging on (retails for $16); too gorgeous to pass up.
