Whimsical Living Room Full of Color

I am dearly afraid of using color in my living room, but amazing designers like Caitlin Wilson and her ridiculously chic textiles are pulling me towards the bright and feminine look. The palette of coral and aqua in a traditional room, with layered patterns takes chic and preppy to a whole other level. Caitlin designed the room for her friend and client, Leigh Anne Wilkes from Your Home Based Mom. Enjoy this ridiculously pinnable living room photographed by Brittany Lauren.

From Caitlin Wilson… This living room was a makeover from a dark, drab tuscan style to a fresh clean, white palette with pops of feminine colors peachy coral, soft aqua, and citron. The room really hadn’t been used for a while because it just seemed to go unnoticed in the house and now it’s the gathering place where the family wants to spend time. I went with a neutral linen Grace loveseat (Caitlinwilsontextiles.com) from my new upholstered furniture line.

A pair of coral chairs are the perfect pop of excitement in the mostly neutral space. To create visual impact along the back wall, I flanked the fireplace with 2 Parsons towers from west elm which are one of my go-to pieces. They are just the right scale and create an impressive gallery for collected pieces and books. The focal point of the room is a custom commissioned piece by Britt Bass which she created using the actual fabric swatches used in the room. The main floral fabric is Designers Guild and sets a perfect tone for the room with a soft aqua background, delicate flowers, and gold ribbons throughout the pattern.

The additional pillows are the always lovely gold dot by Caitlin Wilson Textiles. I custom designed the rug to match the perfect shade of aqua, also available through Caitlin Wilson Textiles. What I love about designing spaces is that I have the ability to match and customize so many products for my clients now that I have own my furniture, pillow and rug lines. That really is what I set out to do when I created my brand- I needed more exciting and coordinated products for my clients and now they’re available to everyone!
