But for some reason, I was open to the new Herbal Essences Cleansing Conditioner that was released as part of the Naked collection. I’m really glad that I gave it chance because I absolutely love it. Like use it twice a week kind of love it. When I’ve gone beauty shopping with friends, I basically bullied them into trying it. I can’t help it – it’s just that good.
If you haven’t tried a cleansing conditioner before, it basically feels like you’re rubbing conditioner all over your hair. Cleansing conditioners also generally don’t lather (some do slightly) because they are sulfate free, and Herbal Essences’ formula definitely doesn’t. After rubbing it all over, including deep down into your roots, you’re supposed to let it sit on your hair for a few minutes. This whole process feels generally counter-intuitive and strange, but just go with it.
Afterwards your hair feels super soft, detangles easily, and is generally lovely. I would say that if you have fine hair, it’s probably not the best idea to expect mountains of volume after using this formula, but it does weigh my hair down significantly less than the other formulas that I’ve tried. It’s a great way to give your hair a rest or a boost of moisture when you still need your hair to look clean & shiny.
If you’re late on the cleansing conditioner bandwagon, give this one a try. It’s one of the most economical (anywhere from $4 – $7, depending on the retailer), and if you don’t love it you can always return it thanks to generous drugstore return policies. Give your heart hair a break!
