On The Plus Side: Reading Room

If you can’t tell from my deliriously happy expression, I had such a great night at the citizenM slumber party that the next morning I couldn’t stop smiling. I took a little time the morning after to explore the hotel once the cocktails stopped flowing and everyone moved onto their bottomless mimosas in Chelsea. There’s a beautiful library stocked with photography and fashion books that I couldn’t resist spending some time in. Naturally, I found a photo of Channing Tatum to pose with, because I’m predictable like that.

I’m trying to carve out more time to read these days. It’s not as easy as I would like it to be, but it’s one of my goals for 2014 and beyond. I’ve signed up for a 3 month trial of Scribd, a service that is the Netflix of books, to try to explore authors beyond the young adult novels turned blockbuster movies that I seem to gravitate towards. Thus far, I’ve added Bergdorfs favorite Betty Halbreich’s first book to my library, along with classics about Diana Vreeland, Isabella Blow, and titles from Erik Larson, the author of The Devil In The White City (one of my favorite books of all time). I’ll also be taking Gabrielle Bernstein’s latest book, Miracles Now, on my upcoming trip in an attempt to change the way I look at my day. Hooray for personal growth!

Now, onto the outfit. If you think you’ve seen enough of this pleated maxi skirt from Evans on me, I’m not sorry to say that you’ll be seeing more of it in these warm months. It just might be my favorite piece in my closet and I will wear it until it falls apart. This SimplyBe biker dress that I insist on wearing as a vest is going to be another of these pieces. It goes with everything! Keep scrolling for more details!
