// Private Lives of Nashville Wives - ep. 2

Okay, so episode two was definitely less snooze-worthy than the premier! Thank goodness. There was an adoption, a sip see, a girl's night out, some cattiness and promise for even more drama in episode three. Here's my short but sweet breakdown of last night's happenings:

Cassie Gary ( Baby Eva Rose) : I love that this episode showed their experience with adopting Eva Rose. The Chapmans decided to go the route of open adoption and the birth mom had 10 days to change her mind. The episode didn't go in-depth about anything but I do appreciate that it shared their anxiety and fear of losing their new baby. Cassie held a Sip See on the 10th day (standard Southern tradition where the mom's friends will come, enjoy some champagne, and see the baby for an afternoon). I totally understand their decision to hold it on that day (I mean, being able to pop open a bottle of champagne at the exact moment the baby becomes legally "yours" is pretty special), but I would totally fear the worst. I'm so glad it worked out for them. That baby is precious!
Sarah : The episode followed Sarah and her band on their jaunt to Austin to play at the SideWinders Steakhouse. I love that PLoNW shows Sarah working her way up from the bottom, despite being married to a well-known songwriter. She rides in a van with the rest of her crew, and she sets up her own stage at performances. When you see the SideWinders venue you're sort of left thinking "Uh, what? You drove all that way for this?!" But it's an authentic portrayal of what you have to do to get your name out there. Especially in the music biz. Sadly the show was an epic fail. Hardly anyone was there (mostly just people there to eat dinner) and you could tell it stung. "Dagger to my heart" was the perfect way to sum it up.
Erika : Erika is married to Brian White and is a retired soap opera actress. She's spent the past ten years being a stay at home mom and raising their two sons. She's starting to realize that she wants to get back out there and do something for her. While her husband takes their sons on a short "tour," Erika organizes a Girls Night Out with the rest of the PLoNW ladies. Apparently it's not what the other ladies had in mind and Erika is quickly thrown under the bus and coined a "party pooper" and wet blanket. I totally get her struggle though. She's out of her element and she tried to organize something totally different, but it just didn't go as planned. She's not as "out there" as the rest of the women, but I still feel like she's super genuine and sweet. I couldn't help but feel bad for her when Jenny and Ana teamed up on her and basically made her night awful.
Ana : Ana "saved the night" by bringing out hula hoops and getting the party started at the honky tonk, but I agree with her sister Betty when she said Ana was totally inappropriate and took it too far when she made off with Erika's costume (a gift from Cassie) and paraded around the bar with it on. She basically ruined it and as much as I want to love Ana (she's a character!), I was bummed out that she was so buddy-buddy with Jenny.
Jenny : Ugh, Jenny. Don't even get me started! I feel like Jenny is the quintessential "mean girl" of the group. She tries to come off as sincere and silly, but she's really just sort of awful. Backhanded compliments, unnecessary comments, and fishing for praise... no thank you! She's shot straight to the top of my "HashtagNo" list haha But I'll admit it's characters like that that make for good tv.

I'm thinking that at the end of the season I need to give each wife a "superlative" of sorts... Most Likely To Stab You In The Back, Class Sweetheart, Most Ambitious, etc. I'm charting my thoughts each week and I'll have to tally up the votes at the end of the season!

Two episodes down and I'm totally stoked for next week. I think a few secrets are going to start coming out of the woodwork. I got a little gossip before the premier about one of the wives and I'm interested to see how it's going to play out on the show. That's the interesting thing about this show being here in my city... People know people! And people talk. Juicy!

As always, you can catch the new episodes on TNT every Monday night at 10/9c, and you can drop by the next day for my recap and thoughts! Let me know if you watched and if so, what you thought!
