It seems as if, these days, all of my “What to Wear” posts are inspired by events that I was unable to attend.
I wasn’t able to attend a friend’s birthday dinner week before last, so I wrote a “What to Wear to a Dinner Party” post. Last weekend, my cousin got married and I wasn’t able to go, so I’m writing a “What to Wear to a Wedding” post.
I go to class every other weekend and I swear I only get invited to events on the weekends I have class. Sigh.
But I digress. It’s spring but it feels like summer in The Bahamas and with it comes bright colors.
To start off this outfit, I chose a blue flare dress from topshop.com. Then, I added the Bejeweled Minaudière clutch by Santi from shopbop.com. It’s one of the more unique pieces I’ve seen in a while. It features colorful sequins, gems, and polished stones, as well as a kiss-lock frame, satin-lined interior, and an optional chain strap.
To accentuate the gold in the clutch, I added a pair of gold strappy sandals, Marnee, by Steve Madden. These shoes are everything and a half! They feature an open-toe, faux-leather in a caged silhouette, and 4 ½” heel.
For jewelry, I kept the look simple and a little extravagant at the same time. The “Whistles Bolt Cuff ” from asos.com is very simple, but the “Primary Aztec Drops” from baublebar.com demands attention.
At the wedding reception, when you raise your glass in a toast to the newly married couple, you want your nails to be done to perfection. I chose a royal blue nail polish by Essie called “Mesmerize”, but if this is too much blue for you, try “Beyond Cozy.”
I’m still a little bit salty about not attending the wedding, especially because I had to listen to my mom run-on about how everyone was there. You know how weddings and funerals are family reunions.
Anyway, in my next life, I’ll be able to attend all the events I want to.
